Tips for Getting Hired
-
Update your profile:
By continuing to update your profile, clients can see what experience you have, what you currently look like and your updated measurements. The more accurate the information you give, the more likely clients are going to want to hire you for an event. Plus, by updating your profile, it adds spice and flavor that can give your profile an edge over other promotional models. Please remember that clients will note how well your profile endorses you as a promotional model in order to gauge how well you will promote their product, or service. Promote yourself with one of our custom designed Comp Cards:
You can print out one of our custom designed Comp Cards by searching for your model profile and selecting print in the top right hand corner of your profile page. Each Comp Card provides your name, picture, statistics, and a brief description of your work history, as well as a link to your Vantage Advertising profile that clients can access to hire you. The more Comp Cards your hand out, the better chance you will be remembered by potential clients and hired for future events.Share your profile:
Encourage more traffic to your profile by liking and sharing it on your Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Blogger pages and encouraging your friends, family and networks to do the same. Each time you share your profile on one of these social media platforms you are increasing the direct traffic to your personal profile and your potential for getting hired. You can share your profile by finding your model profile and then selecting share in the top right hand corner of your page.-
Link to your profile:
Select from one of our many custom designed links to connect your profile to your personal webpage, or blog. By adding this link to your personal page, clients viewing your webpage or blog will have quick and easy access to view your professional model profile. From there, the client can easily review your credentials and book you on the spot for an upcoming event. To add a link to any of your webpages, first locate your model profile, select the link to this profile button, copy the link you like best, and then paste it onto your webpages and watch as your promotional jobs begin to pile up! Network, Network, Network:
At each event you work remember to not only promote the client's product, or service, but remember to promote yourself as well. The better you get along with the client and the other models you are working with, the more likely you are to receive future events from past clients or job openings from another model (i.e. as a replacement model, or when clients are looking for models with specific requirements).Update your About Me Section:
Draw attention to your profile by using this section to tell the client a little more about yourself: your likes, interests, passions or hobbies. Most clients want to learn as much as they can about you before they hire you, so be sure to include these fun facts to generate client interest. Please note: you should list interests in this section that will encourage clients to book you. For example, let's say your passions are electronics, cars, and healthy living; make sure you relate these interests to past events that you have worked, or future events you would like to work. Update your About Me Section by logging into your profileAdd a Video or Demo Reel, and/or Audio to your profile:
Adding a video, demo reel, and/or audio file can really add to your profile because it shows that you have that extra special talent of public speaking, or the ability to speak multiple languages, that a client just might be looking for. Update your video and audio file by logging in and adding them to your profile.Take pictures at the events you work:
Taking pictures at each event allows the client to physically see the different number and range of events you have worked in the past. These photos can give clients a general idea of what kind of experience you have (i.e. what trade shows, sporting events, or product launches) been involved in. So be sure to continually update your profile with new event photos. Have a lot of event photos? Feel free to email them to us and we will be sure to add them to our event photos album, and Facebook page.-
Promote yourself in a professional manner:
While not all of the events you may work have a Business Professional environment, having a professional email, voicemail and speaking in a professional tone with the client, other models, and Vantage Advertising really increases your chances of being hired. Clients are more likely to hire professional models because they know that these models will bring their professionalism to the events. First impressions can make or break your career, so be sure to present yourself in the best possible light at all times. Keep your Most Recent Events Section up-to-date:
While clients enjoy reading all of the events you have participated in, they are far more interested in which events you have worked recently. Therefore, when you are developing the list of past events you have worked, put the most recent events first. Clients want to see that you are you working regularly. So, be sure to continually update this section, because letting your list of events get behind can really hinder your chances of being hired.-
Work a variety of events:
The more diverse you make yourself the better your chances are of getting hired. Try working an event outside of your comfort zone. This shows the client that you are not afraid of a challenge and that you are willing to improve your skills and abilities. Make yourself known to Vantage Advertising:
Don't be afraid to begin building a relationship with us. We are here to help promote your experiences and skills, and the only way we can do that is to get to know you. We're more likely to recommend a brand ambassador that has gone out of his or her way to get to know us, than a promotional model we know nothing about. The better our relationship is with you, the better your chances are of getting hired.-
Show up to each event you are hired for, and do your best:
We know this seems self-explanatory, but showing up and doing well at your event is the key to your success. By not showing up, you are not only blacklisting yourself from Vantage Advertising, but from the client and future clients as well. Remember, clients network too! Create standards for yourself:
Know what events you will work and which events you won't. Don't be afraid to turn down a job that doesn't meet your standards. Have respect for yourself and your abilities. There's nothing worse than agreeing to work an event you are not comfortable with and then deciding at the last minute that you do not want to work it. You will avoid being blacklisted if you create a standard for yourself and stick to it.-
Be honest with us:
a. We value honesty very highly, so if you can't work an event, don't come up with an excuse, be honest with us. We are more likely to rehire a model that is honest with us about an event she has to cancel than a model that feeds us lines about how she has an exam, a group meeting or got into a car accident. We've heard all of these excuses before. Therefore, be honest with us and let us know before the event that you cannot work it, so that we have enough time to take care of it.
