Promotional Modeling is Fun, But You Have to Study Too!

You just got hired for an exciting promotional modeling job! Amazing! But how do you have fun and ensure you’ll be booked again? Here are a few tips you need to know to be a great brand ambassador. When you follow these rules, you’ll get re-booked, and be recommended for future events.

Take time to study your client.

Trade Show Model Tip: Research Your ClientYou were hired to represent a product, service or brand, so make sure you do your research. A great promotional model can blend in with company employees and has extensive product knowledge. Doing your research ahead of time will go a long way towards wowing your client. When you are asked questions you can’t answer (and trust me it will happen), it is okay to ask. There are ways to answer an attendee without saying “I don’t know.” Your best response in this situation is something like this: “Great questions.  I’m just not familiar enough with XYZ to hazard a guess.  Let me connect you with...” or “I want to be sure I’m giving you the right info, let me double check with …” It’s important to provide the right answers but using lines like these, will showcase your professionalism and your commitment to getting the facts.

So how do you research the brand/product? Get on the internet and look up the company and products you will be promoting. Be sure to pay attention to what the product does and any special features it has. If the website has a Frequently Asked Questions page, check that out as well. An FAQs page is a great place to get answers to the questions you will probably be asked on trade show floor. Pay attention to the marketing of the company and how they talk about their brand. Every brand has a personality and you’ll be a part of that in a short period of time.

Trust me, you’ll be glad you did your homework when you are flawlessly answering questions and feeling like a member of their trade show team.

Don’t forget to have fun!

Being a trade show model is awesome! You get paid to promote great products, and you have the opportunity to experience what it is like to be a member of a company’s team for a short period of time. Have fun with it! You are there to grow the company’s reach, and being a brand ambassador is a unique opportunity for you to make a difference. You can have a significant impact on the company’s trade show experience by bringing energy and excitement to their booth. The days may sometimes be long, but when the job is over it’s over. It is not like a 9 to 5 where you will be back tomorrow. One of the things I love most about being a trade show model is it’s always something different! Variety is the spice of life, so remember to make the most of every experience!
