Dallas Trade Show Model of the Week: Haley
1. How long have you been working in the trade show industry?
I have been working in the trade show & entertainment industry for 10 years and have loved every minute of this crazy ride!
2. How did you first get involved in the trade show industry?
I was already working as a model/ actress and was approached by one of my commercial agents about working a trade show in San Antonio.
3. What city do you work trade shows in the most? Do you travel to other cities?
I am based in the Dallas/ Ft Worth area of Texas so I’ve worked more than I can count here; but I travel all over for trade shows and events. The furthest I have traveled for a trade show was to Melbourne, Australia in April of this year for the APCO Australasia Conference. My favorite cities to travel to for trade shows in the US are San Francisco & Denver, but the city that does the best job hosting trade shows is Las Vegas!
4. What’s your most memorable trade show/event moment?
So many great memories from over the years! A couple of very cool ones were meeting & working with the awesome Betty White! Also, getting to meet & hang out with R.Lee Ermey (from Full Metal Jacket & the Geico commercials). Then, I saw him 8 months later at another event and he remembered me & my name. I was flattered that out of all the people he meets, he remembered me!!
5. What’s the most unique costume or attire you’ve worn at a booth?
I have worn so many fun costumes at events over the years, including, but not limited too: Gatsby Girl, Saloon Girl, ‘Old School’ flight attendant, A Sheep, Russian Spy, Cheerleader, ‘Tool Time’ Girl, a Monster High Doll and so many more that it is hard to pick just one. A couple of my personal favorites/ most unique have been a Mermaid & as dressing as Marie Antoinette were my skirt was an actual table!
6. Do you prefer the country or the city?
I prefer where ever there is water, be it an ocean beach or out on my boat on the lake! I love to be in, around, or on a body of water!
7. What’s your favorite meal?
I am a foodie; I LOVE all food & am always ready to eat and try new foods! I am a Texan girl though, so my all-time favorite meal would have to be Authentic Tex Mex Fajitas with all the fixins’ and a Margarita!
8. If money wasn’t an issue, where would you live for the rest of your life?
Sydney, Australia! By far my favorite & the coolest place I’ve traveled to!
9. List three things/activities on your bucket list
-
-
Own a 1957 Chevy BelAir Convertible
-
Skydive
-
Travel to New Zealand!
-
10. What advice would you give to trade show models just starting out?
Always Be On Time! Smile! Remember that this is a “real” job and treat it that way! In this industry, we often get to work fun, cool events/shows and travel to fun cities, but you must remember to still treat the booking as a “real” job and always be professional!
Thanks for the great advice, Haley! And thanks again for being such a great role model for aspiring trade show and promotional models! We look forward to continuing to build a wonderful relationship with you! That wraps up this week’s Dallas trade show model of the week.
